The second step is to get accepted and to graduate from a ABA accredited law school. In addition to good grades it is to your benefit to build as much legal experience as possible. The third step to becoming a lawyer in South Dakota is to pass the bar exam. While its certainty not required, past test takers and professors suggest taking 6 months to study for the exam after graduation. You will not be able to legally practice law in the state of South Dakota until you receive a passing score.
